Pillars : Digital Women Empowering

Believing in the importance of building the human being and developing their capabilities, the Egyptian woman has a high priority and a pivotal role in the state's national strategy 2030, as one of the pillars of community development that will not be achieved except by ensuring the effective participation of women in all aspects of work to build a strong nation.

In this context, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology launched its initiative to empower women: Qodwa. Tech, which is implemented by the Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development Project in Egypt, with the aim of contributing to the economic and social empowerment of Egyptian women using information and communications technology and preparing them to deal with the digital transformation in society in an environment that supports equality and equal opportunities for all.

In addition to encouraging them to contribute and participate in creating new productive societies that depend on preparing qualified cadres of girls and women who play their role in supporting and training their peers in local communities in various governorates of Egypt using information and communications technology tools.

Objectives of the Qodwa. Tech initiative:

- Employing information and communications technology to improve the work efficiency of women and girls who own productive and service projects.
- Providing technical and cognitive support to motivate female cadres to work independently in various craft and service sectors, relying on the competitive advantage and diverse economy of each governorate and geographical region.
- Supporting and empowering female craftswomen and entrepreneurs to participate economically through e-commerce platforms and digital marketing sites.
- Benefiting from enhancing e-commerce skills to include female freelancers from the informal economy sector to the formal economy.
- Preparing cadres of women and girls in various governorates to become knowledge pioneers and role models.
- Creating a sustainable community model that contributes to reducing the unemployment rate, solving the economic problems of women in local communities, and encouraging projects based on female labor, which contributes to supporting social unity and belonging to work and production.
- Contributing to achieving equal opportunities between the sexes in a sustainable digital society using information and communications technology.

Working methodology in the Qodwa.Tech initiative:

- Implementing introductory seminars and specialized advisory sessions to raise digital community awareness, and spreading digital culture in local communities (culture of freelance work and entrepreneurship, digital financial technology, pricing, packaging, photography, and artificial intelligence).
- Building partnerships and alliances to combine efforts made by all parties concerned with women's empowerment.
- The initiative adopts an unconventional model for developing and building the capacities of Egyptian women, which is the (cognitive role model) model, which supports the creation of a healthy competitive work environment for women, by selecting ambitious models of female entrepreneurs, and training them to use information technology applications, until these women turn to play the role of guidance and training for other groups of craftswomen (peer learning) in order to achieve the expansion of the scope of training, leading to the creation of a sustainable model that contributes to reducing the unemployment rate, and preserves the cultural privacy of local communities without compromising customs and traditions.
- Training and support for digital capabilities: The initiative contributes to developing women's skills in the fields of information technology, sustainability and knowledge exchange, and improving digital skills in a way that matches their needs and the requirements of the local market, which contributes to accelerating the pace of economic growth.
