Empowering people with disabilities
In the framework of offering opportunities for all people to participate effectively in community development, raising the capabilities of persons with disabilities, and ensuring their rights in the state, The Central Administration for Digital Community Development, in cooperation with civil society institutions, relevant governmental and international agencies, and supportive business companies, seeks to launch projects and initiatives concerned with promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, especially the right to educate and work.
Accordingly, persons with disabilities need more attention and support regarding mechanisms of integrating them into society, raising awareness of their issues and problems, and addressing the difficulties they face. So, the strategy of the Central Administration for Digital Community Development focused on providing them all technological skills and tools so that they can improve their standard of living, as well as raising community awareness, especially the people surrounding them, supporters, relatives, and local civil societies, about the role of the new technological tools in improving the lives of people with disabilities as a whole.
Based on that, the national network for persons with disabilities services and the electronic platform (taheel) were launched in partnership between the Ministry of communications and information technology, the Ministry of social solidarity, and the Ministry of Labor force, with the aim of providing training and rehabilitation services to empower them in the labor market and employment, as well as connecting them to the available training and employment opportunities , according to residential area, type of disability, and level of educational qualification, facilitating access to training, jobs, and job interviews without need to travel long .
At the same time, the National Network for Persons with Disabilities services help them find practical training opportunities, increasing their chances of obtaining jobs suiting their needs and abilities, and help them deal with technological solutions and applications that facilitate their daily lives.
Digital community development projects also seek to reach persons with disabilities to fulfill their needs related to knowledge and various needed information to ensure their full participation and integration into society, through the construction of websites and electronic portals (Erada portal) to provide services for this important segment of citizens.
The projects of the Central Administration for Digital Community Development also seek to improve the educational process for deaf and blind students using ICT solutions, by developing traditional educational curricula into e-education curricula that include a number of subjects that pose difficulties for them.
