The system aims to develop medical services provided to the most needy citizens, and support and raise the efficiency of the health services system by taking advantage of the latest applications of information and communications technology.
The number of patients examined through remote diagnosis units in Assiut Governorate alone increased to 3,620 cases during 2023, and 11 units were operated in the governorate in each of Assiut Fever Hospital, Al-Iman General Hospital, Assiut General Hospital, Sahel Selim Hospital, Al-Qawsiya Central Hospital, Assiut Chest Hospital, Assiut Ophthalmology Hospital, Assiut Women and Children Hospital, and Abu Tig Model Hospital, in addition to the units of the University Heart Hospital (Al-Orman) and Assiut University Hospital.
It is worth noting that the remote diagnosis system was launched in 2021 within the framework of the state's strategy for digital transformation and the state's support for the health services system within the efforts to develop and raise the efficiency of all government services by activating the role of information and communications technology in order to provide distinguished services to citizens in all governorates of the republic.
In this context, the remote diagnosis system works to improve the level of medical and health services provided to citizens by technologically linking health units in these areas with central units in university hospitals, through which patients receive the best medical services from senior consultants and specialists in university hospitals without bearing the burdens and costs of travel and transportation. At the same time, it provides the opportunity to provide a larger space for scientific communication between practitioners and senior doctors, in addition to providing rapid medical solutions for system users from patients and doctors, which contributes to facilitating the provision of medical care services and ensuring their access to all citizens across the republic
