Egyptian project “Jobs and Skills for People with Disabilities Using ICT” wins as a pioneering project in the WSIS 2022 World Summit Award

Project : National Network for Services for Persons with Disabilities

In a new international recognition, the Egyptian project (Jobs and Skills for Persons with Disabilities Using ICT) was selected to win as a pioneering project in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prize 2022, among the top five pioneering international projects in the e-employment category.
The project of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology was selected to win from among 966 international projects that applied for the award, as 360 projects were nominated for the final lists, with only 5 projects reaching each category of the competition.
The project (Jobs and Skills for Persons with Disabilities Using ICT) is being implemented by the Central Administration for Digital Community Development of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in cooperation with (the United Nations Development Program) and (the International Labor Organization), and funded by (the United Nations Program Organization - Committee on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities).
It seeks to create an enabling environment for persons with disabilities to participate effectively in the development of their society, by following a multi-faceted approach to achieve the full integration of persons with disabilities into the labor market.
The project enhances opportunities for access to rehabilitation, employment and consulting services for people with disabilities and business owners alike, and contributes to building the capacities of people with disabilities to facilitate their integration into the labor market. This is achieved through an electronic employment platform launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in partnership with the Ministry of Social Solidarity under the title (National Network for Rehabilitation Services for People with Disabilities), which is an electronic portal that includes all training and employment services provided by companies and institutions concerned with people with disabilities, and allows access to them in the simplest ways, to obtain job and training opportunities that suit the different capabilities of each type of disability, which enables them to increase their chances of finding decent jobs and starting their own projects. During the experimental stages of the electronic platform, an initial database was built consisting of data from 1,020 associations, entities and institutions working in the field of services provided to people with disabilities, in addition to registering data and creating electronic accounts for more than 80 companies and employment institutions, and more than 100 people with disabilities who frequent the network to search for these services. The project provides, through the National Network for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, several services for:
First: Persons with disabilities:
-The network allows persons with disabilities to build a professional CV, and nominates entities that provide appropriate services and training for them, in addition to jobs suitable for the CV.
-Job seekers can browse suitable jobs according to the type of disability and required experience.
-The network provides a set of short videos such as (How to write a CV - How to succeed in a job interview) to support job seekers in presenting themselves to the labor market in a professional manner.
Second: Companies and business owners:
-The network allows companies and institutions to create a company account, enter the required jobs and review the CVs of applicants.
-The network provides a set of short videos such as (How to conduct an interview for persons with disabilities - Rules for preparing the work environment) to support them in dealing with persons with disabilities and making their institutions accessible and appropriate.
Third: Bodies and institutions:
-The network allows bodies and entities that provide services to persons with disabilities (governmental bodies, civil society organizations, and the private sector): to create an account on its electronic platform.
