Digital Citizenship Initiative Participates in a Workshop on "Scouting Media Using Artificial Intelligence" in Cooperation with the Arab Council for Childhood and Development in Qatar

Project : Digital Citizenship and Online Protection Initiative

As part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's efforts to enhance children's digital safety, the Digital Citizenship and Online Protection Initiative participated in a workshop held by the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, in partnership with the Arab Scout Organization, entitled "Scouting Media Using Artificial Intelligence." The workshop, hosted this month by the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association, aimed to equip children with digital skills to empower and protect them online and promote their digital safety. This was achieved through a series of interactive activities and workshops, including highlighting the importance of developing skills for safe internet use, introducing the concept of artificial intelligence and discussing its positive and negative impacts, explaining the concepts of digital citizenship and safety, demonstrating how to use AI applications in scouting media, and finally, conducting practical exercises on producing scouting media content, posters, and films using artificial intelligence. Regarding the workshop, Professor Asmaa Saber, Director of the Digital Citizenship and Online Safety Initiative, stated that participating in the regional training for young journalists was an inspiring and enriching experience. It provided an opportunity to contribute to empowering youth to keep pace with modern scouting media using artificial intelligence tools. She commended the participants' enthusiasm, performance, and interaction with new technologies, as well as their desire to learn and innovate. This, she noted, enhances the skills and capabilities of young people in the fields of communication and media, integrating them with technology to create a creative space that reflects the scouting movement's vision and leadership spirit in the digital age.

The workshop included a group of children and teenagers aged 14 to 17 from various Arab countries. They participated in interactive activities to acquire skills that promote digital safety, support critical thinking, and enable them to use artificial intelligence and its tools to create content that reinforces positive values and raises awareness in their communities.

It is worth mentioning that the Digital Citizenship Initiative, under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, seeks to disseminate digital literacy among members of society in a safe and effective manner, support the positive use of technology, especially among children and youth, and strengthen protection measures and raise awareness of the dangers associated with internet use.
