Project : Digital Citizenship and Online Protection Initiative

As part of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Qalyubia Governorate regarding the digital empowerment of citizens in the governorate, the Digital Citizenship and Online Protection Initiative organized a training program on "Basic Digital Citizenship and Online Protection Skills" on the risks and threats of the internet. The program was held on July 16-17, 2025, at the Banha branch of the Egyptian Public Library in Qalyubia Governorate.
The training, offered in partnership with UNICEF, addressed awareness of the most important basic concepts of digital citizenship, internet risks, how to confront them, and methods of protection, support, and reporting. Interactive activities were also implemented to identify cyberbullying and deal with it appropriately, as well as the appropriate time to be exposed to electronic screens and how to manage them. It also aimed to raise digital awareness among participants about their rights and responsibilities in the digital space. The training program was presented by the initiative's coordinators and training officers, Mr. Mahmoud Salah El-Din and Mr. Akmal Omar. The Digital Citizenship and Online Protection Initiative, affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, aims to disseminate awareness-raising and training content to children, adolescents, parents, and teachers. The initiative collaborates with UNICEF and partners to implement several interactive training programs through community centers, schools, and youth centers in various governorates. These programs focus on digital risks and key digital citizenship concepts for children and adolescents. These programs enable them to navigate the digital world safely, equip them with the skills necessary to identify threats, fully understand the implications and consequences of their online behavior, and help them better navigate technological developments.
