Improving the conditions of children in the era of digital transformation Within the activities workshop of the Strategic Vision for Childhood in a Changing World

At the kind invitation of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, Eng. Hoda Dahrouj, Advisor to the Minister for Digital Community Development, and Director of the Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development Project in Egypt, chaired one of the sessions of the workshop: "A Strategic Vision for Childhood in a Changing World", organized by the Council on April 15-16, to discuss the challenges and opportunities to improve the conditions of children in the era of digital transformation and access to a framework general for the Council's Strategic Plan 2026-2028.
The session was titled "Future Trends in the Field of Childhood, Technology and Education", and discussed with the guest Dr. Hani Turki, Director of the Arab Knowledge Project at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), deriving trends and policies from the Global Technology Monitoring Report in Education, where MCIT Strategic Vision was discussed and presented, which is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt's Vision 2023, which emphasizes driving innovation, building digital skills, and promoting digital transformation to keep pace with technological changes. Through its strategy, the Ministry is keen to achieve digital safety for children as a key pillar of its goals towards building and qualifying people for the era of digital transformation through the implementation and sponsorship a number of initiatives that seek to build their digital capabilities as well as developing decent ethical and behavioral societal standards when using the Internet.

In this regard, the Minister's Advisor pointed out interest of initiative “Digital Citizenship and Internet Protection” of MCIT in enabling children and young people to navigate the digital space safely, while supporting them with the necessary skills to protect against cyber threats, and helping them fully understand the repercussions and consequences of their online behavior, by providing specialized training and educational programs in cooperation with partners, to develop their digital skills and enable them to safely use the Internet and confront all forms of digital threats, that reaches to develop a balanced and healthy relationship between children and technology.
This workshop represents a real opportunity to enhance cooperation and exchange visions on how to formulate a comprehensive Arab strategy for childhood that responds to the rapid global changes, with the participation of Dr. Hassan Al-Bilawi, Secretary-General of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, Dr. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Executive Director of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND), Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector of the Arab League, in addition to more than 30 experts from different Arab countries.
It is worth mentioning that the Arab Council for Childhood and Development plays a leading role in coordinating efforts and providing an intellectual and scientific platform to discuss the most prominent issues affecting the present and future of Arab child.
