The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prize of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is an effective mechanism for evaluating projects and activities that use ICTs to push sustainable development forward.
It is worth mentioning that over the past years, a number of digital community development projects have been nominated for the WSIS Competition, where this international award had previously been won in 2014 through the Job Creation Project for Youth in Egypt, which was implemented in partnership with the Japanese government.
Qudwa.tech initiative was also selected as one of the shortlisted ending projects for the 2020 award in the category "The Role of Governments and All Stakeholders in Advancing ICTs for Development".
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) also received an international certificate of appreciation at the World Summit on the Information Society Awards ceremony in 2016 for its remote medical diagnosis project, as one of the outstanding initiatives contributing to the efforts of governments to support social and economic development using ICT tools.
In 2017, the remote medical diagnosis project was also reached the final list of nominations for the Award.
