An intensive week of digital citizenship training for teachers and students in Assiut
Project : Digital Citizenship and Online Protection Initiative
Within the framework of implementing the activities of the cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Assiut Governorate, to support digital community development projects and build the digital capacities of citizens in the governorate; The Digital Citizenship and Internet Protection Initiative held several training activities aimed at raising the digital citizenship skills of groups of students, teachers and youth in the governorate, coinciding with the local and international celebrations of the World Safer Internet Day, which falls in February of each year.
Over the course of two days, February 23 and 24, 70 young people aged 18-35 were trained on the basic skills package for digital citizenship, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Public Library in Assiut.
A training program was also implemented for computer teachers at the Assiut Education Directorate, during the days of February 25 and 26, and the training came on the "Interactive Skills to Protect Children from the Dangers of the Internet" package provided in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF".
The training week activities concluded with the organization of an interactive workshop for children aged 10 to 14 years, for practical and applied training on "Digital Citizenship Skills and Protection from Internet Dangers", as the workshop focused on building children's conscious digital skills to achieve a safe presence on the Internet, in addition to presenting some real models and practices of the dangers that children are exposed to on the Internet, especially through social media.
These training activities are implemented in light of the strategy of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology towards spreading digital culture among members of society in a safe and effective manner, supporting the positive use of technology, especially for children and youth, and enhancing protection measures and raising awareness of the dangers associated with using the Internet.
