Field tour by the delegation of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to inspect remote diagnosis units in Alexandria

A delegation from the Presidential Initiative for Remote Medical Diagnosis at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology conducted a field tour in Alexandria Governorate to inspect remote diagnosis units in 7 government hospitals in the governorate.
The delegation was headed by Eng. Mohamed Atef, Technical Director and Member of the Executive Committee of the Presidential Initiative for Remote Medical Diagnosis, and they were received by Dr. Ghada Neda, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Alexandria, who stressed that the visit comes in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and in continuation of the government's vision towards generalizing digital transformation and integrating its services and benefiting from them within the various government service outlets in the governorates, especially upgrading the health system and providing treatment services that are compatible with the requirements of patients from the governorates.
The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Shaimaa Sabry, the initiative coordinator in the directorate, and the field visit included Abu Qir Central Hospital and Al-Ameriya Central Hospital to activate the service in each of them, where the work team trained a group of doctors and technicians in the remote diagnosis units in each hospital on how to operate and benefit from the health services provided.
This was followed by a visit to the units of East City Hospital, Ras El Tin General Hospital, and El Agamy Specialized Hospital to review the workflow of these units. A field visit was also conducted to Alexandria Fever Hospital, which was added as a medical service provider according to the recommendations of the initiative's executive committee.

In the same context, the delegation held a meeting with the Maamoura Chest Hospital team to discuss the hospital's proposals regarding the system and the obstacles to work in the unit.

At Alexandria University Hospital, the delegation of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology held a meeting with Dr. Essam Badawi, Executive Director of Hospitals at Alexandria University, in the presence of hospital directors and deputies, to consult, discuss, and remove all obstacles related to operation and present the results of the previous phase, as there are three remote diagnosis units providing medical consultations in each of the Children's Hospital, the Emergency Hospital, and the New University Hospital.
A meeting was also held at the Directorate’s office for the members of the Executive Committee of the Presidential Initiative for Remote Diagnosis to discuss operational obstacles and present proposals for improving services to achieve maximum benefit from the initiative, which aims to link the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and Population and university hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, by providing technological solutions and infrastructure through the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which also undertakes the necessary coordination between patients in sessions and those working from medical and technical cadres in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and university hospitals, to ensure the provision of a medical service befitting the Egyptian citizen, and to reduce the burden and trouble of travel and transportation incurred by citizens to obtain these services outside the governorate, and to contribute to raising the efficiency of the medical staff in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and developing the performance of the health service provided therein. In this regard, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health indicated that the possibility of activating the service at the General Ophthalmology Hospital is being studied as a proposal within the plan to present it to the Supreme Committee of the initiative as a new unit in the governorate, in addition to Borg El Arab Hospital, where work is underway to activate the service, as the remote diagnosis units in Alexandria include nine units in each of: Abu Qir Central Hospital, Alexandria Fever Hospital, East City Hospital, Republic General Hospital, Ras El Tin General Hospital, Ajami Central Hospital, Ameria Central Hospital, Borg El Arab Hospital, and Maamoura Chest Hospital.
It is worth noting that the presidential initiative for remote diagnosis comes within the state's efforts to develop health services using the latest digital technologies, which enhances the efficiency of the medical system and contributes to improving the quality of services provided to citizens, in accordance with Egypt's Vision 2030 for digital transformation.
