Participation in the celebration of the National Academy of Information Technology for People with Disabilities to honor the beneficiaries of "Tour wa Ghair"

Within the framework of the ongoing cooperation between the Central Administration for Digital Community Development at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the National Academy of Information Technology for People with Disabilities, and in partnership with the Ministry of Social Solidarity; A celebration was held today to honor the beneficiaries of people with disabilities from the "Tour wa Ghair" initiative, at the Academy's headquarters in the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital.

The celebration was attended by Dr. Abdel Moneim El-Sharkawy, President of the National Academy of Information Technology for People with Disabilities, and Eng. Hoda Dahroug, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Digital Community Development, who stressed in her speech the efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to invest in human cadres, build digital skills for youth, encourage entrepreneurship, and adopt innovative ideas to hone their skills in various technological fields, as one of the main elements of Egypt's strategy for the digital transformation of society.

During her speech, she pointed out that the “Develop and Change” initiative seeks to build a broad base of young people who possess IT application skills and have the ability to employ them to serve development efforts, achieve their goals, and keep pace with technological developments in the labor market. She also added that within the framework of the state’s direction towards providing everyone with the opportunity to participate effectively in community development, and raising the capabilities of people with disabilities and integrating them into the labor market, by supporting them with all technological skills and tools; The "Develop and Change" initiative, through the Central Administration for Digital Community Development, cooperated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the National Academy for Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities, to implement a training program for employees and residents of the academy's care homes, who are physically and visually impaired, to train in information technology skills, in the fields of: digital literacy, freelance skills, computer science applications, and basics of programming and design. During the first phase, which lasted for four months, about 170 beneficiaries of both genders from five governorates, namely Cairo, Giza, Dakahlia, Alexandria, and Beheira, benefited from it. Work is currently underway to prepare for the start of implementing the second phase in the centers affiliated with the National Academy for Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities in the rest of the governorates of the Republic.

During the celebration, certificates of completion of the training program were handed over to the beneficiaries from the employees and personnel of the Ministry of Social Solidarity who successfully completed the training program. The work team participating in this phase was also honored in appreciation of the efforts made to implement and make the initiative's activities a success.

It is worth noting that the “Develop and Change” initiative to empower youth is implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, through the Central Administration for Digital Community Development, in cooperation with Microsoft Egypt, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Care Egypt Foundation for Development. The initiative works to implement an integrated model that helps young men and women acquire technological knowledge and skills and provide them with real opportunities to achieve their goals in the labor market and compete strongly in it, by providing specialized training programs in the fields of information technology, to provide them with broader opportunities for training and freelance work in new and innovative jobs related to information and communications technology relevant to the Egyptian labor market.
